- Omgi is a very exciting project to work on. The starting point is about devices that slip into the wild and make this an incredibly exciting challenge.
Ben Myhre is originally from Las Vegas, USA, but moved with his family to Norway a few years ago and today works as a graphic designer and specialist in visual representation using artificial intelligence.
Can you tell us a little bit about the work you have done for Omgi?
- I have created visual representations of Omgi in various environments using AI, or artificial intelligence and image processing. Several micro-homes and holiday homes have been placed out in the wild, allowing one to imagine what the units would look like in different types of surroundings. Everything from icy mountain peaks, to rocky cliffs out in the sea gap.
Can you tell us a little bit about how to make this happen?
- First, I review all the images of the OMGI devices and analyze them. These are very superbly designed devices by Snøhetta that need to be reproduced correctly. Then I brainstorm together with the OMGI team to identify which environments are appropriate to insert them into. I use the AI tool Midjourney to put the OMGI devices into different environments. It takes time to find just the right angles and I work a lot to find the right lighting. Then I use Adobe Photoshop to implement the devices into the background.
What has it been like working with a product like Omgi?
- I like this project very much. Many of my previous projects have been about inventing new concepts. This is very concrete. The OMGI devices are neutral, and one wants to make them part of nature. This means that you have a lot of exciting leeway and that you can create many different scenes. I especially like that the Omgi has different variations of wood on the fronts. It allows one to choose the quality that best suits the surrounding nature. An exciting element to play with.
Omgi works with landowners who want to develop their own dreams. How can they take advantage of AI?
This technology is a gift package to anyone who sits with this kind of dream in their stomach. If you have a property, you can visualize what the surroundings will look like when they are in place. It's never been more exciting to play around with ideas you might have.
What's the most exciting thing about working this way?
This is still very new. The possibilities are so many. We just scratch the surface. I can imagine these devices in many different environments all over the world. Only the imagination sets limits on where we can take them.
This is Midjourney:
- Developed and hosted by the independent research lab Midjourney, Inc., based in San Francisco.
- Generates images from natural language descriptions, also known as “prompts”, on a par with OpenAI's DALL-E and Stability AI's Stable Diffusion.
- Midjourney is inspired by similar technologies and contributes to the growing landscape of innovative AI solutions
- As a key player in AI Spring, Midjourney uses advanced techniques to bring imaginative concepts to life through visual representation.
