You probably know them best through the Oslo Opera House and the Library in Alexandria. We are incredibly proud that the renowned architectural firm, Snøhetta, has also designed Omgi. We visited project manager Rune Veslegård and talked about the vision behind the project.

- The OMGI project has been an amazing journey in creating something that truly merges with nature. We have placed emphasis on selecting materials and designing the units so that they become a seamless part of the landscape.

We are visiting Rune i Snøhetta's premises at Vippetangen in Oslo. In an old fish reception they have offices where Rune shows us around while he tells us enthusiastically about the project. The collaboration started in 2018. Snøhetta has extensive experience working with smaller builds, but according to Rune, there are several things that make Omgi truly unique.

- Omgi has a special ability to offer residents a genuine connection with the surrounding nature. From the panoramic windows to the use of natural hues, everything is designed to create a harmonious experience. You practically live in nature.

What inspired Snøhetta most in the design of OMGI devices?

- Inspiring landscapes, sustainable materials and creating a real connection to nature have been our main areas of focus. Omgi has given us the opportunity to realize our vision in an incredible way.

How has the collaboration with Omgi been and what do you think is the most important innovation in the project?

- Working with Omgi has been a pleasure, focusing on sustainability and delivering an authentic experience. The biggest innovation lies in how Omgi becomes part of nature without disturbing it.

What is your dream for the future of the OMGI project?

- My dream is that Omgi becomes a symbol of how people can live in harmony with nature, and that it inspires more sustainable housing solutions globally.

What do you hope people will be left with after experiencing an OMGI device?

- I hope that people think; “Wow, this was really special” after experiencing an OMGI device. I hope they feel a deeper connection to nature and understand the importance of preserving it. I wish that they take with them the feeling of tranquility and harmony that the devices provide and that it inspires them to live even closer to nature.
